I was given the absolute honour of listening to the audiobook of this book thanks to NetGalley。The narrator is Rebecca Soler as she has narrated the Caraval series and she continues to impress me。 She makes Evangeline， Jacks and all the other characters come to life！This book is a continuation of Once Upon a Broken Heart and it picks up shortly after the end of that book。The story completely captivated me and took me away with Evangeline looking to undo the events of the first book and gets into I was given the absolute honour of listening to the audiobook of this book thanks to NetGalley。The narrator is Rebecca Soler as she has narrated the Caraval series and she continues to impress me。 She makes Evangeline， Jacks and all the other characters come to life！This book is a continuation of Once Upon a Broken Heart and it picks up shortly after the end of that book。The story completely captivated me and took me away with Evangeline looking to undo the events of the first book and gets into a whole new set of problems。My heart broke finding out what happened to Jacks and can see his motivations throughout the second half of the story。I loved this audiobook and I cannot wait for the next one to come out！ 。。。more

Stephanie Garber does it again！ She takes the intricate world of fates， magic and prophecies and weaves a tale of forbidden love， legend and curses until the reader cannot discern what’s lurking right around the next page。I really enjoyed seeing the tension increased between Evangeline and Jacks， getting to know more about the Valor family， learning more about the legends of the North - including the Merrywood Three and learn about the history of the North that seems so shrouded in secrets。 This Stephanie Garber does it again！ She takes the intricate world of fates， magic and prophecies and weaves a tale of forbidden love， legend and curses until the reader cannot discern what’s lurking right around the next page。I really enjoyed seeing the tension increased between Evangeline and Jacks， getting to know more about the Valor family， learning more about the legends of the North - including the Merrywood Three and learn about the history of the North that seems so shrouded in secrets。 This was a great sequel to book one in this series。 I appreciated that it didn’t create unnecessary conflict just too stir the pot and keep the plot engaging。 Instead， we have our delightfully， morally gray Jacks， revealing more of his inner thoughts and feelings while giving the reader some clues about the nature of his inner conflict。 The adventure， the danger， the longing， and the hidden revelations made this story an exciting and entertaining read。 As always， I can’t wait to see what Stephanie Garber comes up with next。 She sure knows how to write one heck of an ending！ Many thanks to NetGalley and Flatiron books for the advanced readers copy of this audiobook。 I’ve listened to the entire Caraval series and Once Upon a Broken Heart on audio， so it was a much appreciated opportunity to immerse myself in this next installment of the setues on audio as well。 The narrator did a fantastic job and brought the story to life fabulously。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

*Thank you to Edelwiess+ for the eARC*After the intense cliffhanger at the end of Once Upon a Broken Heart， I was so stoked to receive this advance reader's copy of The Ballad of Never After - I had hyped it up in my head with all the fanart and talking about it with other readers and this book DID NOT disappoint。 Slight spoilers ahead so read at your own risk。。。One thing I love about this story is that it has all the makings to be a tragic love story for our two main characters and multiple tim *Thank you to Edelwiess+ for the eARC*After the intense cliffhanger at the end of Once Upon a Broken Heart， I was so stoked to receive this advance reader's copy of The Ballad of Never After - I had hyped it up in my head with all the fanart and talking about it with other readers and this book DID NOT disappoint。 Slight spoilers ahead so read at your own risk。。。One thing I love about this story is that it has all the makings to be a tragic love story for our two main characters and multiple times throughout the book I was absolutely going feral at all the same touches and the quick one-liners - I tossed back and forth between I wanting Jacks and Evangeline together and knowing that realistically it was probably not going to happen for them， or at least work out in a way that is a happy ever after for both parties involved。 STILL， I shipped them together， and I do not regret it。 I think we got to learn a lot about Jacks history and the story that makes him into The Prince of Hearts， but not enough that it didn't make me absolutely frustrated when I could feel him holding back and withdrawing from Evangeline。 The moments when he left her alone but was ALWAYS there to protect her from someone or something - convenient Jacks？！There were so many things that circled back to focus and a lot of parallels throughout the book that had me on the edge of my seat while reading and it was interesting to see how most of the loose ends were resolved - BUT THE APPLES！ I still have so many questions！One thing about Stephanie Garber is that she keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout her books and her cliffhangers are intense。 I did not expect the book to end this way but it was something that I should have anticipated！ STEPHANIE I NEED ANSWERS！！！！！ 。。。more

Not gonna lie， this and the caraval series are pure fluff。 And somehow I don't mind？ It's nice to read some light fluffy content every now and then。 Especially with all the bad stuff happening in the world。 If I try to take it as anything more than fluff， I might not want to continue with it。 Because there isn't much depth to evangeline beyond being obsessed with the idea of love and ofcourse forming her own conclusions and acting upon them。 But， as I keep reminding myself。 Take it as fluff。 Not gonna lie， this and the caraval series are pure fluff。 And somehow I don't mind？ It's nice to read some light fluffy content every now and then。 Especially with all the bad stuff happening in the world。 If I try to take it as anything more than fluff， I might not want to continue with it。 Because there isn't much depth to evangeline beyond being obsessed with the idea of love and ofcourse forming her own conclusions and acting upon them。 But， as I keep reminding myself。 Take it as fluff。 。。。more

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thank you to NetGalley and Stephanie Garber for an eARC in exchange for an honest review。 *Spoiler Free*•Okay， I needed a moment。 I slept on it。 I’m still not over it。 I think this book is going to haunt me for many days to come。 After I finished this novel， I sat and stared at the wall for an hour， unmoving。This is my most anticipated read of the year。 Many of you know I’m obsessed with Caraval and absolutely adored Once Upon a Broken Heart。 I had HIGH expectations for this novel。 An ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Thank you to NetGalley and Stephanie Garber for an eARC in exchange for an honest review。 *Spoiler Free*•Okay， I needed a moment。 I slept on it。 I’m still not over it。 I think this book is going to haunt me for many days to come。 After I finished this novel， I sat and stared at the wall for an hour， unmoving。This is my most anticipated read of the year。 Many of you know I’m obsessed with Caraval and absolutely adored Once Upon a Broken Heart。 I had HIGH expectations for this novel。 And all my expectations were met and then exceeded。 I don’t even know where to start。 • STORY & PACING •I’m entirely obsessed with Garber and her writing style。 It’s so full of whimsy and wonder。 It’s truly magical and reminds me of the fairytales I read as a child。 I think one of my favourite aspects of this novel is the stories within the story。 The Ballad of the Archer and the Fox， the Merrywood Three， The Hollow， Jacks's history。 We get so much out of this novel， it’s just incredible。 I also love that we never get the endings because that’s not how the North works。 It just leaves so many unanswered questions， but in the best way。I thought that plot was incredibly well done， had so much action， and great side plots。 It moved fast， but not too fast。 I also appreciated the moments where we slowed down and took a moment to enjoy the characters just being human。 I can’t get into the plot or anything without spoiling， but just know that it picks up where we left off and goes on one hell of a rollercoaster。 I can't describe how much fun this novel was to read。• CHARACTERS & ROMANCE •I love that this is a story about broken hearts and never afters。 It makes for such a unique， angsty， tension-filled story。 I loved the slow burn romance。 I loved that we could see it happening but they couldn't。 I won't get into it because of spoilers， but my god， I couldn't love their dynamic more than I already do。Evangeline had so much agency in this novel， and it was fantastic to see。 She's a human stuck in a world of Fates and magic， so naturally she needs to be saved often and is constantly told to stay out of things。 But she doesn't take that very well。 She's her own hero more often than not， she doesn't hide， she makes her own plans， and deals with the consequences。 For such a sweet and lovely character， she's got a lot of fire and is entirely fierce。 And Jacks， my sweet Jacks。 My sweet wicked apple eating boy。 He's my whole world。 My favourite book boyfriend。 Legend who？ His character really grew in this novel。 He was once this irritating villain who only strove to please himself， no matter who he hurt。 But he really comes to his own， and learning about his history was so much fun。 He's still a villain， and probably always will be， but that doesn't make me love him any less。 How he treats Evangeline， his Little Fox， throughout the novel made me my soul scream。• OVERALL •I haven't stopped screaming since I finished this， and I don't think I ever will。 It was truly so incredible and I can't wait for everyone to experience this level of pain with me。The ending line？ THE LAST LINE OF THE NOVEL？ I haven't recovered。 I never will。I could go on and on and on about this novel， but I'll keep it to this before I lose my mind。 Because I might。 The realization that I'll never be able to read this for the first time again is heartbreaking。 I wish the story curse would erase it just so I could experience it again。 。。。more
